CASE STUDY
Laurie was a 32 year old wife and mother of two young children. She worked full-time for the Government of Canada, in an unfulfilling, highly stressful position. Years of overeating sugar-laden, high fat foods and little to no physical activity had changed this former high school basketball star into an obese, unhappy, unhealthy young woman with low self-esteem and several health concerns: low energy, hormonal imbalances, severe menstrual irregularities, and a serious case of colitis requiring anti-inflammatory steroids for management.
Laurie reached an all-time low the day she stepped her 5’5 inch frame onto her bathroom scale and saw the needle pass 195 pounds… She put in a frantic phone call to us and said through her tears that she needed to make a change – she did not want to end up like her dead grandmother who had spent the last 5 years of her life suffering in a nursing home because of complications related to her weight.
